Sportswear | Bum Equipment
This campaign was for a series of fashion catalogs I photographed for BUM Equipment, a sportswear company located in Los Angeles. We photographed on location in both Santa Monica and Santa Barbara, with a Pentax 6x7 medium format camera system, on Ilford FP4 black & white film, then toned the prints in my darkroom. All the lenses in this system were tack sharp and integrated nicely with the three Pentax bodies I owned. On this catalog shoot, we carried a briefcase filled with fifty dollar bills, and when we saw someone who we thought would make a good model, I had my assistant ask them if they would consent to being photographed in one of BUM's sportswear products and sign a modeling release. As well as catalogs, these photographs ended up as six foot posters on a few hundred bus shelters, billboards, and bus sides around Los Angeles, California. Art Direction: Sara Lytle
